ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — A sweet, cuddly pup named Lunch Money is looking for a forever home, and the Asheville Humane Society is hoping someone will step up to give her the love she deserves.
Lunch Money is a 1-year-old, 50-pound mixed breed with a gentle disposition, big soft ears and a heart to match. Once timid and unsure of herself, she has blossomed into a playful and affectionate dog who thrives on human companionship and gentle encouragement.
“She’s just a cuddle bug,” Nate from the Asheville Humane Society said during a recent appearance at Asheville Media Group. “She’s super sweet, loves people and would do great in an active home that wants a dog to snuggle with.”
While Lunch Money can be shy at first, she warms up quickly and shows her playful side once she feels safe. She enjoys playing with other dogs and has done well in playgroups at the shelter. Her compatibility with cats is unknown, but staff say she’s sweet enough that a trial introduction might work.
Lunch Money has already learned basic commands like “sit” and “stay,” and staff say she could learn more with the right motivation — especially treats. She’s still working on building confidence on the leash and prefers not to share her food with other dogs, but she’s generally calm and quiet.
As part of a special summer adoption promotion, the Asheville Humane Society has waived adoption fees for all animals through the end of July. Additionally, Ingles Markets is offering a $50 gift card to anyone who adopts Lunch Money.
