11th annual Tryon International Film Festival
Filmmakers, cinephiles, students and storytellers from near and far will gather from 9 a.m.-11 p.m. Friday through Sunday at various places in downtown Tryon.
Weaverville Oktoberfest
Dust off your dirndls and lederhosen — Oktoberfest is back from 1-9 p.m. Friday through Sunday in Weaverville. Leveller Brewing Co. will be releasing an Oktoberfest beer, while the neighbors at Eluvium, Zebluon and Liondog will also have some German-style ales to offer. There will be food vendors throughout the weekend and special events at each brewery and bar.
13th annual Haunted Trail
A mix of spooky and fun for kids, with live outdoor scenes and glowing trails in the treetops from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday at the Adventure Center of Asheville.

Look Homeward, Asheville: A Downtown Walking Tour Through Thomas Wolfe’s Eyes
Step into the world of Thomas Wolfe with this guided walking tour through downtown Asheville- Wolfe’s hometown and the vivid backdrop for his (in)famous novel Look Homeward, Angel. The tour begins at 10 a.m. at the Thomas Wolfe Memorial.
42nd annual Mountain Glory Festival
Celebrate small-town life in the mountains from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on Main Street in Marion. Visitors looking for original handicrafts will find plenty of shopping choices with more than 150 craft, food, non-profit and sponsor booths of locally made arts and crafts; festival foods and pubs with local wines, mead and beers. Plus, two stages presenting Marion’s finest musicians.
4th annual Lovely Asheville Fall Festival
This year, it’s an After the Storm Celebration like no other! Head to Pack Square Park from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday for a free, family-friendly weekend full of fun and community spirit.
