ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Drivers heading west on Interstate 26 should plan for an overnight closure Thursday as crews continue work on the highway.
The North Carolina Department of Transportation plans to close I-26 West from Exit 44 to Exit 33 beginning around 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6. The closure is expected to remain in place until 6 a.m. Friday, Aug. 7.
Drivers will be detoured at Exit 44 to Interstate 40.
The closure is part of ongoing work along the I-26 corridor. Drivers should allow extra time and follow posted detour signs.
The Asheville Fire Department shared the closure information Thursday.
