ASHEVILLE (828NewsNow.com) — Former North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper is heading to Washington, D.C.
Cooper will replace outgoing Sen. Thom Tillis, who was first elected to office in 2014.
Cooper had 71.54% of the votes (90,632), compared to Republican Michael Whatley, who had 26/03% (32,981 votes). Cooper’s win gives Democrats a key victory as they try to gain at least four seats currently held by Republicans.
