ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Don’t put away those ice scrapers just yet.

Western North Carolina woke up to some frosty conditions on Friday morning, after overnight low temperatures were barely above the freezing mark.

The weekend weather forecast calls for one more night of chilly temperatures in the Asheville area, with a gradual return to spring-like conditions starting on Sunday.

The forecast:

  • Friday: partly cloudy, with a high temperature of 50 degrees and a low of 34.
  • Saturday: mostly sunny, with a high of 56 degrees and a low of 33 degrees.
  • Sunday: sunny conditions with a high of 69 and a low of 47.
  • Monday: partly cloudy, with a high of 68 and a low of 52.

Of note, intervals of sunny and cloudy conditions in the Asheville area on Monday bring some uncertainty to people who are looking forward to witnessing the partial solar eclipse, which is projected to be at its peak shortly after 3 p.m.
