HENDERSON, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Henderson County Commissioners will consider spending $51,000 on a pathway connecting two schools at a meeting at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 17, at 1 Historic Courthouse Square in Hendersonville.

As part of a long-planned widening of NC 191, the North Carolina Department of Transportation plans to include a multi-use path along one side of the roadway to connect Rugby Middle School and West Henderson High School. The path also would connect to the entrance of Historic Johnston Farm.

The county’s half of the cost is $51,000. In addition, the Department of Transportation would spend $28,600 to extend sidewalks at the driveway entrances to the schools.

In other action at Wednesday morning’s meeting, the commission will get updates on construction projects and a presentation of the implementation plan for the 2045 Comprehensive Plan.
