The Flood Gallery Fine Art Center is accepting submissions for “The Power of Voice,” a group art exhibit featuring the work of 25 local artists. The show is open to many types, styles and mediums of artwork, so long as they are inspired by the exhibit theme.

The Big Crafty, Asheville’s semiannual craft shopping extravaganza, returns this weekend. Over 180 vendors will set up shop at Harrah’s Cherokee Center on Saturday and Sunday.
Richard Linklater, director of character-driven, dialogue-heavy dramas like “Boyhood” and “Before Sunrise” and charming hang-out comedies like “Dazed and Confused” and “Hit Man,” is back with a film combining both disciplines. “Blue Moon,” a biographical drama about famed Broadway lyricist Lorenz Hart, features what might be the greatest performance of frequent Linklater collaborator Ethan Hawke’s career.
The North Carolina Arboretum is currently home to 12 massive, wooden trolls by internationally renowned sculpture artist Thomas Dambo. The statues, constructed from reclaimed wood and fashioned with distinct names and personalities, are scattered around the NC Arboretum grounds, making for a solid walk in the woods in addition to troll-borne delight.
