DANA, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that an 18-year-old man was found deceased at a local park. The incident is currently under investigation.

Around 6:29 a.m., Monday, July 27, HCSO deputies responded to a call at Dana Park in Henderson County, where they discovered a deceased man, later identified as 18-year-old Kooper Sturdivant.

“The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has been notified. The official cause and manner of death will be determined by that office. The incident remains under investigation,” said Stephanie Barbosa, HCSO public information officer.

Barbosa said that at this time, there has been no indication of foul play. Next of kin has been notified.

For the time being, Assistant County Manager Chris Todd has closed Dana Park to the public.

“For any further questions regarding the park, please contact the Parks Department,” Barbosa said.
