More information has been released about the double homicide which occurred earlier today, Monday, Dec. 16 on Cordova Street at Pisgah View apartments.
According to a statement from the Asheville Police Department, officers arrived at the scene at 3:19 p.m. after reports of gunfire at the apartment complex.
Responding officers entered the apartment to find two victims in the main living area. One victim was pronounced dead at the scene while another had CPR performed on them by officers before also pronounced dead.
Detectives and forensic technicians were called to the scene and are working with the N.C. Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to further analyze the attack.
These are the 12th and 13th homicides investigated by the APD this year. APD encouraged anyone with information about the killings to contact the department.

The Asheville Police Department has responded to a report that two people were killed in a shooting at Pisgah View apartments in West Asheville.
The shooting occurred earlier this afternoon, Monday, Dec. 16.
Police are still investigating the scene, according to APD Public Information Officer Rick Rice.
Pisgah View apartments are located less than a mile north of Carrier Park in West Asheville at 1 Granada St.
