ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department arrested Marcus Jordan McMillan, 25, in connection with a discharged weapon and attempted robbery Saturday morning in west Asheville.

APD officers responded to a report of a gun discharge on Saturday, April 12, to a business in the 140 block of South Bear Creek Road. According to the reporting party, while backing up her vehicle, it was struck twice by projectiles. When she exited the vehicle to investigate, the victim located bullet holes, then returned to her vehicle and left the area to contact police. 

When officers arrived, the suspect had fled the scene, but they learned that in addition to damaging the first victim’s vehicle, the suspect attempted to rob a different individual. Fortunately, the second victim was able to safely escape.

During the investigation, officers were able to identify McMillan as the suspect. Later that day, McMillan was located and taken into custody without incident.

During the arrest, McMillan was found to be in possession of a Glock 43X handgun. 

McMillan was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $30,000 bond and charged with:

  • Felony attempted common law robbery
  • Felony discharge weapon occupied property
  • Discharge firearm in city limits
