ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Joshua Gregory Reed, 28, was killed in a fatal single motor vehicle crash early Saturday morning on Tunnel Road.
The Asheville Police Department responded to a report of a car crash with injuries around 2:44 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, in the 290 block of Tunnel Road in East Asheville.
The preliminary investigation indicated that Reed was operating a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee “at a very high rate of speed” when the SUV “overturned and struck a utility pole,” APD said.
Reed was transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Next of kin has been notified.
