ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

Above-normal temperatures are expected to hang around through the weekend, so are the chances for thunderstorms.

Some of those storms were already firing up early Friday afternoon.

Friday is expected to be hot and muggy with highs near 90, according to the National Weather Service.

Highs should drop into the upper 80s for Saturday, but expect more rain and thunderstorms. NWS data shows some of those storms could produce hail and damaging winds.
