HALLOWEENTOWN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Every day this month, resident horror movie enthusiast and 828newsNOW staff reporter Pruett Norris is recommending a Halloween film for your macabre amusement.
Whether they be monster movies or fearsome family films, demonic possessions or slasher sensations, this exercise hopes to encourage spooky seasonal “scream”ings at home or in cinemas.
As the old saying goes, “trick or treat, trick or treat, give me something good to…watch.”
Day 1: BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE (2024, 104 min., directed by Tim Burton)
What better way to kick off the Halloween season than with a sequel to a Halloween classic? Tim Burton returns to the world of “Beetlejuice” 36 years after Michael Keaton’s “ghost with the most” possessed a generation. Keaton returns to play his spectral chaos agent alongside fellow “Beetlejuice” alumni Winona Ryder and Catherine O’Hara and “Wednesday” star Jenna Ortega.
The new movie is a fun, over-the-top romp that throws a lot of goo at the wall. Only some of it sticks, but what does is a gonzo return to form for the Burton brand of devilish delight.
“Beetlejuice Beetlejuice” is now playing in theaters nationwide.
