ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Moe Davis, a U.S. Air Force veteran and former chief prosecutor at Guantanamo Bay, has announced his candidacy for Congress in North Carolina, citing frustration with Republican policies on Medicaid and veterans’ services.

Davis, a Democrat, took aim at incumbent Rep. Chuck Edwards (R-NC), accusing him of prioritizing “rich out-of-state donors” over the needs of constituents in Western North Carolina.

“I’m a veteran who used to prosecute terrorists for a living. Now I’m running for Congress in North Carolina,” Davis said in a social media post. “It’s time to kick some ass for the working class.”

Davis ran for the seat in 2020 and is positioning himself as a pro-labor, pro-veteran alternative in the upcoming election.
