ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An Alexander man is facing felony assault and several traffic-related charges after deputies with the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office responded to a stabbing late Saturday night.
Deputies were called to Walt Drive in Alexander shortly after 10 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, where they found Amado Pena suffering from a stab wound near his shoulder, according to a sheriff’s office news release. Pena was transported to the hospital and later released.
The suspect, identified as Arnol Dooglas Orellana Santos, was taken into custody without incident around 10:40 p.m. during a traffic stop in the 2600 block of New Leicester Highway.
Orellana Santos is charged with:
- Assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury
- Driving while impaired
- Open container after consuming alcohol
- No operator’s license
- Hit and run — leaving the scene of property damage
- Failure to report an accident
- Driving left of center
- Failure to maintain lane control
- Failure to wear a seat belt
District 2 Capt. Chris Stockton praised the coordinated response, calling it “a direct reflection of the swift, caring response of our patrol deputies, DWI Taskforce and criminal investigators.”
“I am proud of their persistence and diligence in this case as they work to make the community safer,” Stockton said.
