ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An Alexander man was sentenced to more than five years in prison after pleading guilty to drug charges Tuesday, Jan. 21.

Timothy Austin Dolly, 29, pleaded guilty to two counts of felony trafficking in cocaine, one count of felony possession with the intent to sell and distribute a controlled substance, one count of felony maintaining a place for the storage and provision of controlled substances and one count of misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, a news release from District Attorney Todd Williams’ office said.

Superior Court Judge Alan Z. Thornburg sentenced Dolly to serve a mandatory 70-93 month term of imprisonment and pay a $100,000 fine.

On Nov. 6, 2023, Asheville police officers were dispatched to Haywood Road in West Asheville in reference to an intoxicated person in open possession of a firearm. When officers arrived, they found Dolly in a vehicle in possession of a firearm and several items of drug paraphernalia, the district attorney’s news release said. A search of the vehicle turned up ammunition and controlled substances, including approximately 229 grams of cocaine.
