ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — This holiday season, the Asheville Police Department wants you to be careful with the eggnog. APD, in collaboration with the North Carolina Governor’s Highway Safety Program, has launched its yearly “Holiday Booze It & Lose It” campaign against drunk driving.
The statewide campaign, which will run from Dec. 15 to Jan. 4, is intended to raise awareness about the dangers of driving under the influence. There will be an increase of law enforcement on the roads during the program in order to promote safe driving.
“The holiday season is a special time to be with friends, family, and loved ones, and we must do everything we can to ensure that people in, visiting or traveling through the Asheville area can do so safely. Besides being one of the busiest travel times of the year, winter weather can worsen driving conditions,” APD wrote in a press release. “We urge everyone to make responsible choices this holiday season: plan, designate a sober driver, use rideshare services and never drive impaired. Together, we can save lives and make our roads safer for all.”
