ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office is searching for a man wanted on multiple charges following a reported breaking and entering Tuesday afternoon.
Deputies responded to a home on Appian Way, near Royal Pines Drive and Sweeten Creek Road, around 12:55 p.m. after receiving a report of a break-in in progress, according to a sheriff’s office statement.
As a precaution, the agency’s Special Response and Crisis Negotiation teams were deployed, and the residence was cleared without incident.
The suspect, identified as Nicholas D.J. Ivers, is wanted on active warrants for felony assault by strangulation, felony possession of a Schedule I controlled substance and misdemeanor assault on a female in connection with a domestic violence incident.
Authorities consider Ivers armed and dangerous and urge the public not to approach him. Anyone who sees him is asked to call 911 immediately.
The sheriff’s office thanked the Asheville Police Department, Buncombe County Emergency Services and other assisting agencies for their support during the response.
