ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police are searching for two suspects after an armed robbery was reported at a grocery store Sunday night.

A release from the Asheville Police Department (APD) says officers responded to a grocery store near the 900 block of Merrimon Avenue around 9:29 p.m. on July 28 to investigate reports of an armed robbery.

Grocery store employees told officers while walking back into the store with a money bag, they were approached by two Black men wearing masks, with handguns, who demanded money. The employees dropped the money bag and it was taken by the suspects. The employees told police that the two men got into a dark-colored Subaru Crosstrek with a dealer tag before leaving the area.

Thankfully, the employees were not injured.

APD detectives are investigating this case and are asking the public for any information they might have.
