ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —

A man accused of stabbing another in the head in the River Arts District has been arrested.

Asheville police officers responded to a reported stabbing on the 200 block of Riverside Drive about 7:21 a.m. Tuesday, a news release said. Officers found a man with knife wounds to the head, but the suspect had fled. The victim was transported to Mission Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Alix Lemaire Romain, 43, was arrested Wednesday afternoon on Bartlett Street and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to inflict serious injury and carrying a concealed weapon, police said in a news release.

Romain was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $5,500 secured bond.
