ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville City Soccer Club’s women’s team is set to play its first home game this weekend, while the men have their home opener on May 24.

There are three additions to the USL League Two South Central Division this season — Apotheos FC, Columbus United FC and Montgomery United FC. The division has expanded from 12 to 14 games this season, with the newcomers joining the Blues and six returning clubs from 2024.

The Men in Blue will open their season at home May 24 against division newcomer Apotheos FC, a 2023 NPSL National Championship finalist. The regular season will wrap July 12 at Greenwood Field against Athens United.

Asheville will face five of its nine division opponents in a home-and-away series. Single matches include road games against Birmingham and Columbus and home contests against Montgomery and Dothan. Dothan was one of just two teams to take points off Asheville last season, playing to a scoreless draw June 8. The Blues won the rematch 4-0 at home in a heated match that saw two Dragons players sent off.

The South Central Division also saw changes on the women’s side. Athens United departed, while USLW Knoxville joined, keeping the division at seven teams. The schedule remains 12 games for the Women in Blue, who finished second in the division in 2024 and qualified for the playoffs as a wildcard team.

The women’s team began its 2025 campaign May 11 with a road win at Knoxville. It will end the regular season June 28 at home against rival Greenville Liberty. Greenville swept Asheville in both 2024 meetings after Asheville won both matches in 2023.

Asheville will play all six division opponents home and away, including defending division champion Tennessee SC. The Blues drew 3-3 with Tennessee on the road last year and beat it 4-1 at home to clinch a playoff berth. Tennessee ended Asheville’s playoff run in the quarterfinals with a 1-0 win at Greenwood Field.

All home games will kick off at 7:30 p.m., except for the May 24 doubleheader when the women play Birmingham at 4:30 p.m. and the men follow at 7:30 p.m. All home matches will be streamed live on the Asheville City SC YouTube channel.
