ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department is seeking assistance from the public with locating a man wanted for assault.

APD officers responded to a report of a fight with weapons in progress in downtown Asheville around 10:12 a.m., Tuesday, April 22 around the 30 block of Wall Street.

When officers arrived, the physical altercation had ended and emergency medical personnel were on the scene providing treatment to two men, both of whom sustained knife wounds.

One of the injured individuals, Richard Scott Haulman, 54, was transported to Mission Hospital but left the facility prior to receiving medical treatment. Haulman was later identified as the primary suspect in the incident.

Through the course of the investigation, officers determined that a verbal altercation between the two men escalated when Haulman assaulted the victim with a knife.

As a result of the APD investigation, Haulman has been charged with two counts of assault with a deadly weapon.

He currently remains at large.

Haulman is described as a white male, 54 years old, approximately 5 ft. 9 in. tall and 152 pounds. He has brown hair, blue eyes, facial hair and may be wearing glasses.
