ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville Police Department officers have apprehended Trace Donovan Kirkland, 34, an Asheville man who had accumulated a variety of charges across several open warrants.

Around 6 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, APD officers responded to a reported larceny on Bleachery Boulevard.

Upon arrival, officers located a suspect in possession of a stolen item who matched a description provided by store personnel. The suspect, later identified as Kirkland, was found to be in possession of several other stolen items and taken into custody.

The 11 charges as Kirkland were spread across five different cases between APD and the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office, including an incident where Kirkland fondled himself in public, APD Public Information Officer Rick Rice reported.

For his latest arrest, Kirkland faces charges for:

  • Larceny – Misdemeanor
  • Resisting public officer – Misdemeanor
  • Simple possession Schedule IV – Misdemeanor
  • Possess drug paraphernalia – Misdemeanor

APD held a warrant for his arrest for previous charges including:

  • Breaking and entering – Felony
  • Larceny – Felony
  • Communicating threats – Felony
  • Second degree trespass – Misdemeanor
  • Indecent exposure – Misdemeanor
  • Possess stolen goods/property – Misdemeanor
  • Cruelty to animals – Misdemeanor

Kirkland was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $35,000 secured bond issued by a magistrate.
