ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — An Asheville man was arrested last night, Thursday, Oct. 17 for discharging a firearm inside a restaurant at 1900 Hendersonville Rd.
According to a release from the Asheville Police Department, Danny Ochoa, 35, fired his weapon inside the restaurant before fleeing to a nearby underground water culvert around a block away. Officers were able to trace him there from a description given at the scene.
“Fortunately, no one was injured,” said APD Public Information Officer Rick Rice in the release.
Ochoa, who turned 35 yesterday, was charged with a felony for discharging a firearm inside a building, as well as six misdemeanor counts for, among other things, drunk and disorderly conduct and carrying a concealed weapon.
“Once he was caught he wasn’t violent,” said Rice.
Officers were able to obtain the firearm as part of their investigation.
Ochoa is being held on a $62,000 bond in the Buncombe County Detention Facility.
