ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The city of Asheville will host a workshop later this month to help residents develop and fund community improvement projects through its Neighborhood Matching Grants program.

The session is scheduled for 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 29, at the My Daddy Taught Me That facility at 3 Hunt Hill Place. Registration information is available here.

The Neighborhood Matching Grants program offers up to $5,000 in matching funds for projects proposed by registered neighborhood organizations within Asheville city limits. The grants are designed to support efforts that improve quality of life, strengthen community engagement and address local needs.

During the workshop, participants will learn about program requirements and the application process and hear examples of successful past projects. Attendees will also have the opportunity to pitch ideas directly to city staff for feedback and guidance before submitting applications.

“The Neighborhood Matching Grants program is a cornerstone of our commitment to fostering strong, vibrant communities,” Dawa Hitch, the city’s director of communication and public engagement, said in a news release. “We understand that the most impactful changes often originate at the neighborhood level, and this program provides the resources and support to turn those grassroots ideas into reality.”

The 2025 program policy and application materials are available online through the city of Asheville website, which also includes a copy of the city’s official announcement.
