ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police on Monday night arrested a man who is accused of robbing a victim at gunpoint in east Asheville.
Officers were called to the 100 block of Tunnel Road around 9:47 p.m. Sunday after a report of an armed robbery. Police said the victim told officers a man approached him, displayed a firearm and demanded money. The victim handed over $160 in cash before the suspect ran from the area.
With assistance from the department’s drone unit, officers located the suspect — identified as 29-year-old Christopher Calvin Robinson — in a nearby wooded area. Police said K9 Macho helped take Robinson into custody. Officers said they found narcotics, a firearm and the stolen $160 during the arrest.
Robinson is charged with felony robbery with a dangerous weapon, felony possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting a public officer. He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $50,000 secured bond, according to police.
