ASHEVILLE, N.C. (http://828newsNOW.com) — The city of Asheville is inviting residents, nonprofit leaders, business owners and community stakeholders to participate in a public engagement survey for the development of its first-ever Urban Forest Master Plan.
The UFMP will be “a comprehensive roadmap for the sustainable management, protection and enhancement of Asheville’s urban forest for decades to come,” the city wrote in a press release.
The survey is designed to collect community input that will direct the goals of the UFMP, from resource allocation to future policy.
“Asheville’s urban forest is integral to the quality of life, environmental health and beauty of our region,” said Keith Aitken, Urban Forester with the Planning and Urban Design department, in the release. “This survey is an opportunity for everyone in our community to share their voice and help shape the vision for our green canopy. We hope the public will take a few minutes to participate in the survey, and learn more about 2026 engagement opportunities on the project website.”
Where to participate
The UFMP survey is available online and will be open through March 27, 2026. An ongoing list of public presentations and engagement opportunities is also on the project website. Visit ashevillenc.gov/trees for more information.
