ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Love is in the air at Walmart. The Walmart Supercenter at Bleachery Boulevard has announced it will partially reopen to the public on Valentine’s Day, Friday, Feb. 14.
The Bleachery Walmart is located at 25 Bleachery Blvd. just off of Swannanoa River Road, a stretch of roadway heavily damaged by Hurricane Helene. The store itself was heavily impacted by Helene, shutting down the location beginning in early October.
“The store underwent a total remodel due to the extensive damage caused by Hurricane Helene,” said a Walmart spokesperson in an emailed statement. “All associates were offered the option to relocate to nearby stores until the Asheville store reopened and we’re thrilled to welcome them back.”
On Friday, Feb. 14, the Bleachery Walmart will reopen its general merchandise and dry grocery departments to the public.
“This includes a wide range of products from Apparel, Electronics, Toys and Pharmacy, as well as all non-refrigerated grocery items,” a Walmart spokesperson said in a reporter note.
The store plans to fully reopen all of its departments later this spring.
According to the email, Walmart, Sam’s Club, and its customers and members contributed over $30 million to Helene relief efforts, including 178 truckloads of food, water and essential items and more than $14.5 million raised for the American Red Cross.
“We want to express our gratitude for everyone’s patience and support during these challenging times,” the spokesperson wrote. “We’d also like to thank our associates for their continued commitment to their community and to one another.”
