BREVARD, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Everyone is invited to a haunting in the holler this weekend. Brevard will host its annual Halloweenfest this Saturday, complete with trick-or-treating, a costume parade and other spooky festivities.

The free, family-friendly Halloweenfest 2025 will run from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 25 in downtown Brevard.

What to expect at Halloweenfest

Halloweenfest is an all day affair in Brevard. The street festival takes a village to put on and the businesses of Brevard line up to meet it, participating in the Spooky Stroll Open House with trick-or-treating opportunities and eerie decor.

The costume contest and parade is a Halloweenfest staple. Public registration for the contest will run from 10-11 a.m. at the Oskar Blues stage at 70 East Main St., followed by the contest itself at 11 a.m. and the parade at noon.

Pets are invited to partake in their own costume contest. Furry friends in their finest Halloween get-up will strut down East Main St. to Gaston St. beginning at 1:15 p.m.

The festival thrives on community enthusiasm for the holiday.

“There’s a huge amount of neighborhoods that decorate for Halloween, especially behind Silvermont [Park & Mansion],” said Drew Deane, the owner of Canto 34, a coffee shop located inside of an old firehouse in downtown Brevard.

Deane plans on attending Halloweenfest too, though the shopkeeper is keeping their costume a secret.

“I haven’t decided yet. I’m not gonna tell,” Deane teased. “I’ve done many things. I get into it.”

True to Brevard’s reputation as a mecca for mountain sports, Halloweenfest activities will kick off in the evening with the Earth Mountain Costume Bike Ride at 4 p.m.

Finally, bands will take to the Oskar Blues stage for live music to round out the night.
