A Buncombe County man accused of numerous felonies related to stolen motorcycles has pleaded guilty and will spend 22 to 36 months in prison, the Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release.
On Monday, April 29, Brandon Lee Kerley pleaded guilty to:
- Two counts of possession of a stolen motor vehicle
- Two counts of felony larceny
- One count of larceny of a motor vehicle
- One count of felony possession of stolen goods
- One count of identity theft
- One count of misdemeanor larceny
Kerley will serve 36 months of supervised probation upon his release and will be responsible for $15,793.54 in restitution to the victims, according to the news release.
In October 2023, Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office detectives began investigating Kerley based on community concerns and tips about multiple thefts in the Oteen community. During the investigation, detectives recovered more than $30,000 in stolen motorcycles, the news release said. Kerley reportedly fled from Buncombe County Sheriff’s Office deputies and detectives numerous times.
