ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
Check those mailboxes! Buncombe County officials will be mailing property record cards in coming weeks, and residents need to verify the information the county has on file.
The mailings come as the county prepares for reappraisals next year.
“We want to make sure property owners are aware of the information our office has listed for your property,” a news release from the county said.
Property record cards will be mailed to residential property owners who did not reply to mailings from Buncombe County Property Assessment last year or have not provided information about improvements to their properties.
In the “current” column on the left, residents can see the information that is on file. If any of the information is incorrect, property owners should fill out the “updated” column on the right.
The “additional comments” section is where property owners should include any other relevant notes like replacing a roof or HVAC system. Once the card is complete, tear it off at the perforation and return it to the Buncombe County Property Assessor in the mail. The cards should be returned within 60 days.
Information about your property may also be viewed online. Use the search bar at the top of the page to search for your property by using your address, name, pin or property tax bill number. Or simply scan the QR code on your mailer to be taken directly your digital property card and make your changes there.
