ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Have you paid your property taxes?

According to Buncombe County documents, almost $240,567,235 was levied for fiscal year 2024 and $240,074,804.55 has been collected. That left $492,430.08 in unpaid taxes as of June 30 for a 99.8 percent collection rate.

An order of collection is on the agenda for the Buncombe County Board of Commissioners meeting Tuesday.

“Such taxes are hereby declared to be a first lien upon all real property of the respective taxpayers in the County of Buncombe and this order shall be a full and sufficient authority to direct, require, and enable you to levy on and sell any real or personal property of such taxpayers for and on account thereof, in accordance with law,” county documents show.

Also on the agenda is a request to remove 166 personal property tax bills totaling $31,698.92. Those bills were deemed uncollectible.
