ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) – Western Buncombe County is seeing the expansion of the Dix Creek Fire. The wildfire is expected to grow further today.

The wildfire near Leicester overtook at minimum 20 additional acres last night. By 10:30 p.m., the fire had reached 70 acres. The N.C. Forest Service wildfire tracker shows the blaze is 0% contained.

Buncombe’s latest wildfire was first reported near Freedom Farm Road and Mink Farm Road at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday.
