ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Today is the last day for Buncombe County residents to ensure they are registered to vote for the 2026 Primary Election. The deadline is 5 p.m. Feb. 6, with the option for same-day registration during early voting Feb. 12-28.
Officials urge voters to act immediately to avoid issues at the polls, noting that 1,130 Buncombe County voters still need to update or correct their registration. Residents are encouraged to review the list and make corrections now to ensure their voices are heard in key races, including congressional, state legislature, judicial, county commission, city council, sheriff and district attorney elections.

- U.S. citizen
- 18 years or older
- North Carolina resident for at least 30 days
- Not currently serving a felony sentence
