ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) –
The chair of Asheville’s Planning and Zoning Commission resigned this week, leaving at least a temporary vacancy on the panel.
Kimberly Levi, an architect first appointed to the panel in 2020, submitted the resignation via email on Monday, April 29, offering no explanation except to say it was effective immediately, said Principal Planner Will Palmquist, staff liaison to the commission.
Attempts to contact Levi were unsuccessful on Thursday.
Vice chair Geoffrey Barton made only a brief announcement about the departure to start Wednesday night’s meeting, and then he led the discussions of a tree canopy preservation ordinance, the proposed conversion of a historic church into affordable housing, and other matters.
Levi was appointed to a second term on the commission in August 2023 and had been expected to serve through August 2026.
