Community complaints about illicit gun activity prompted Asheville police to make a series of arrests on Thursday, including two that included the seizure of illegally concealed weapons and small amounts of drugs, authorities said.
According to a release from the Asheville Police Department, “proactive enforcement” also included the arrest of four people wanted on outstanding charges, and the seizure of two weapons along with small amounts of crack, fentanyl, MDMA (or “Ecstasy”) and marijuana.
After complaints about illegal firearm activity, “Officers made contact with a man in possession of a firearm and a juvenile in possession of a Polymer80 ‘ghost gun,'” the release stated.
* The juvenile, whose name was not released due to his age, was arrested and charged with possession of a handgun by a minor, carrying a concealed gun and possession with the intent to sell or distribute drugs (Schedule I).
* Germain Justin Logan, 21, was arrested and charged with two counts of possession with intent to sell or distrubute drugs (Schedule I and II), simple possession of drugs (Schedule IV), carrying a concealed gun, resisting officers, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility and later released on a $3,000 secured bond.
Later in the day, police were able to locate and arrest four wanted individuals:
* Thomas Michael Jury III, 28, was arrested on a warrant for an alleged felony parole violation.
* Robert Peter Eichman, 26, was arrested on an alleged probation violation.
* Tyler Gage Rumbough, 28, was arrested on an alleged parole violation.
Jury, Eichman and Rumbough were booked into the detention facility on “no bond” holds, meaning they are ineligible for pre-trial release due to the Pretrial Integrity Act.
* Bradley Alan Linc, 38, was arrested on a warrant accusing him of felony possession of stolen goods. He was booked into the detention facility and later released on a $1,000 secured bond (or $500 to a bondsman) issued by the magistrate.
Police encouraged people with information about illegal gun or drug activity to contact the department at (828) 252-1110.
