ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — At the Asheville City Council meeting this evening, council members were slated to vote on the confirmation of a Board of Directors for the Asheville Downtown Improvement District.
According to a 5:11 p.m. press release, City Council approved the ADID board at their meeting today, Tuesday, April 8.

The ADID is the parent organization overseeing the implementation of the Downtown Business Improvement District, popularly known as the BID. A BID is a district that is determined to be in greater need of certain services, functions and facilities than the rest of a city.
The BID stretches roughly from Clingman Avenue to College Street and down just past McCormick Field and will operate on an annual budget of $1.25 million for its first year of service.
