ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — What do you think about the Asheville Rides Transit system? Asheville city government is seeking ways to improve Asheville’s public transportation with a community survey.

The survey will kick off the ART Comprehensive Operational Analysis, an initiative designed to determine ways to align the ART with present and future community needs.

“The survey is open to all Asheville residents, workers, and visitors, regardless of how often they use transit. It takes less than 10 minutes to complete and will help shape draft recommendations to be released later this year,” said city communication specialist Kim Miller in a press release. “Community input will guide efforts to make ART more efficient, convenient, and community-centered.”

According to the press release, the ART COA will:

  • Identify strategies to improve service reliability and frequency

  • Address barriers to transit access for underserved populations

  • Support future growth, development, and climate resilience

  • Incorporate lessons learned from Tropical Storm Helene

  • Ensure ART resources match the needs of today—and tomorrow

Throughout the ART COA project, community members will be able to stay involved through public meetings, stakeholder workshops, further surveys and other project updates.
