ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Clouds are moving in, and the radar is showing some moisture north of Asheville.
A few snow showers are possible this afternoon and evening across the high elevations, but only a dusting is expected away from the Tennessee border counties, the National Weather Service said. Late this afternoon and evening, wind gusts could reach up to 45 mph. but the gusts will be short-lived.
Avery, Haywood, Madison, Mitchell, Swain and Yancey counties are under a Winter Weather Advisory until 1 p.m. Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 30 percent chance of showers this afternoon in the Asheville area. Rain chances go up to 40 percent tonight with low temperatures near 27. Little or no snow accumulation is expected.
Cold temperatures stick around Saturday when highs aren’t likely to get out of the 30s.
