FAIRVIEW, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
The N.C. Department of Labor’s Occupational Safety and Health Division is investigating after a Georgia man was killed Monday in a construction accident in Fairview.
Jesus Lopez Flores, 26, of Gainesville, Georgia, was operating construction equipment when he went off the roadway and overturned, a spokesperson for the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.
Flores, who was employed by Plow Underground Construction out of Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene, Sgt. Haley Onderdonk said.
The equipment Flores was operating went over an embankment on Fairview Forest Drive, according to North Carolina Department of Labor Communications Director Erin Wilson said.
Wilson said Occupational Safety and Health Division inspections can take up to six months.
