WOODFIN, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Michael Dykes is no longer chief of the Woodfin Police Department.
Town officials said Wednesday Dykes was no longer a town employee. Town Finance and Budget Director Sheri D. Powers said via email it was an “ongoing personnel matter” and limited information could be released.
According to Dykes’ LinkIn page, he started at the department as a patrol officer in May 2000 and moved up the ranks becoming chief in October 2017.
“Any questions would need to go to the town manager,” Woodfin Police Capt. Chris Ammons said in a phone call Wednesday.
But Ammons did confirm an interim chief had been appointed. He said that information should be released soon.
Efforts to reach Town Manager Shannon Tuck and Mayor Jim McAllister were not immediately successful.
