ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The body of a man who was reported missing more than a week ago in Asheville has been found, his family confirmed.
Dr. Daniel Highhouse, 40, was last seen around 1:30 p.m. on May 20 at the CVS pharmacy on Hendersonville Road, where he worked. His vehicle was found at Chestnut Ridge Heritage Preserve in Landrum, South Carolina, according to relatives.
Family members had continued to search for Highhouse in recent days, holding out hope he would be found alive.
On Wednesday, that hope turned to heartbreak as his death was confirmed in a social media post by a family member.
“My brother has been found and he is resting in peace in God’s arms now,” Ashley Highhouse wrote in a social media post.
“My family and I cannot thank you all enough for your continued prayers and support and all of the volunteers who helped us along the way. Rest in peace, Daniel J. Highhouse. We love you always.”
The Missing Persons Advocacy Center also acknowledged Highhouse’s death in a Facebook post, writing, “He has earned his angel wings and is flying high in Heaven. Please keep Daniel’s entire family in your thoughts and prayers.”
Authorities have not released details regarding the circumstances of Highhouse’s death.
