ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Asheville police are looking for more information about a fatal crash that happened earlier this month in east Asheville.
Officers responded to the single-vehicle collision on Interstate 240 West near exit 7 around 7:57 a.m. Dec. 9. The preliminary investigation indicated the 2012 Dodge passenger van operated by Ryan Nicholas Grimes, 34, was traveling west on I-240 near the Tunnel Road exit before it left the roadway and collided with the base of an interstate sign, Asheville police said in a news release.
Grimes was transported to Mission Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 21. Next of kin has been notified.
