ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Two Laura Lynn hand soaps distributed by Asheville-based Ingles Markets are part of an ongoing recall because of potential bacterial contamination, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

The products are among six hand soaps included in a voluntary recall initiated by Intercon Chemical Co. of St. Louis. The company initiated the recall June 29, and the FDA classified it as a Class II recall Sept. 11.

The two Laura Lynn products are:

  • Laura Lynn Honey Apple Crisp Liquid Hand Soap, 8 fluid ounces, UPC 086854074305. The affected lot codes are C3576 and 26-01804. The FDA lists one best-by date as Nov. 5, 2026, while the other appears in its database only as “03/28.”
  • Laura Lynn Foaming Pear Scent Hand Soap with Moisturizers, 7.5 fluid ounces, UPC 08685407408. The affected lot code is 26-01001, with a best-by date of March 13, 2028.

The FDA lists 301 cases of the Honey Apple Crisp soap and 294 cases of the Foaming Pear soap, for a combined 595 cases.

Both products are identified in FDA records as being distributed by Ingles Markets Inc. in Asheville. The FDA lists the reason for the recall as potential bacterial contamination but does not identify a specific type of bacteria for the two Laura Lynn products.

The FDA uses a Class II designation when a product could cause temporary or medically reversible health problems, or when the chance of serious health consequences is considered remote.

For two Intercon-branded soaps included in the broader recall, the FDA specifically identifies potential contamination with several species of Pseudomonas and Serratia bacteria. The FDA record does not say those same bacteria were found in the Laura Lynn products.

The FDA says products involved in the overall recall were distributed to 20 consignees — 19 wholesalers and one retailer — in several states, including North Carolina and South Carolina. The FDA record does not specify where the affected Laura Lynn soaps were sold.

No public press release was issued for the recall, according to the FDA. The recall remains ongoing.
