ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) —
A man convicted in a shooting about three years ago was caught with a gun Thursday afternoon and arrested, Asheville police said in a news release.
Shiiquan Dajshon Seshawn McAlpin, 22, who was wanted for a parole violation, was spotted about 5:15 p.m. near the 100 block of New Leicester Highway and taken into custody.
During the arrest, detectives found McAlpin had a gun, which was a violation of his parole conditions, the news release said.
McAlpin was convicted of shooting Deveon Chambers in April 2021 and was supposed to be living in Charlotte as part of his parole agreement police said.

McAlpin was charged with parole violation; possession of a firearm by a felon; carrying a concealed gun and resist, delay, obstruct. Police seized a Taurus G2C pistol (9 mm).
He was booked into the Buncombe County Detention Facility under no bond (ineligible for release) because of the Pretrial Integrity Act and parole violation.
