ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — Due to the dangerous winter weather hitting Western North Carolina this weekend, FEMA has made the decision to extend its Transitional Sheltering Program until Sunday, Jan. 12.

FEMA made the announcement via their Twitter account on Thursday, Jan. 9.

The Transitional Sheltering Program, or FEMA hotel vouchers, has housed thousands of WNC residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

FEMA had originally extended the TSP deadline to Jan. 11 in a Dec. 5 press release.

The program “allows households additional time to identify other housing solution or make repairs to their home.”

WNC residents who still need assistance after Helene can contact FEMA through their hotline, (800) 621-3362.
