ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — FEMA has approved an additional $12.9 million in reimbursement funds for 45 recovery projects tied to Tropical Storm Helene in North Carolina.

The latest allocation brings the state’s total recovery reimbursements to more than $161 million in the past two months, officials said Wednesday.

Notable grants include $2.6 million to Buncombe County for emergency protective measures and facility repairs; $924,000 to the city of Hendersonville for emergency protective measures; $889,000 to Asheville-Buncombe Community Christian Ministry Inc. for repairs to damaged facilities and contents; and $829,000 to the town of Burnsville for temporary water intake systems.

FEMA covers no less than 90 percent of eligible costs through its Public Assistance Program, which provides funding to state and local governments for disaster response and recovery.

Since Jan. 20, nearly $322 million in Public Assistance reimbursements have been approved to support North Carolina’s recovery from Helene.
