ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — The Asheville Police Department arrested two men on Saturday night after receiving reports of drug-related activity in a west Asheville neighborhood.
Officers brought in Angelo Emayi Johnson, 26, and Titus Armon Mole, 25, around 8:16 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 25 after conducting a crime prevention investigation near the 100 block of Johnston Boulevard.
Mole was apprehended without incident and given a trespassing charge.
“They were in a vehicle, he was the driver,” said APD public information officer Rick Rice. “They were basically trespassing in a housing complex where they are on a list of people who should not be in that complex.”
Johnson, meanwhile, made an attempt to evade arrest on foot.
“It was quick. He knew he was identified, quickly jumped out of the car, tried to get away. Essentially, he fell,” said Rice. “Once you trip and fall, it makes it a whole lot easier. Once that happened, he didn’t resist anymore. There was no struggle. Quick foot chase, got him.”
During the arrest, Johnson was discovered to be in possession of a trafficking amount of fentanyl. Officers recovered 17 grams of fentanyl and 352 grams of liquid containing fentanyl.
Johnson was charged with:
- Trafficking opium level III by possession
- Trafficking opium level III by transport
- Possession with intent to manufacture, sell, deliver – Schedule II
- Probation violation
- Resisting public officer
He was booked into Buncombe County Detention Facility under a $50,000 bond.
Mole was charged with 2nd degree trespassing and released from BCDF under a written promise to appear before a magistrate.
