The Weaverville Fire Department has received a $35,145 grant from Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for the purchase of a new Zodiac rescue boat, a motor, a trailer and accessories, fulfilling “a critical need in our community,” according to a statement from Deputy Fire Chief Michael Hunter.

Firehouse Subs accepts a maximum of 600 PSF grant applications on a quarterly basis. For the upcoming quarter, which begins Thursday, April 3, applicants can request up to $45,000 for gear from breathing apparatuses to emergency rescue vehicles.

“Thank you to Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation, our local Firehouse Subs restaurant in Weaverville and the generous donors who made this possible,” concluded Hunter in his statement.
