ASHEVILLE, N.C. (828newsNOW) — With a 425-foot blast over the McCormick Field wall, first baseman Cam Fisher made history on Wednesday for the Asheville Tourists — sealing a rare three-homer night and a 15-12 win in a slugfest against the visiting Rome Emperors.

As the team announced in a game recap memo, Fisher became just the third Tourists player to hit three home runs in one game over the past two decades, joining Scott Schreiber who accomplished the rare feat in 2021 and Cory Dickerson who had two three-homer games in 2011.

Fisher finished the game going 3-for-4 with four runs scored and six runs batted in.

It was an explosive atmosphere all night, as Rome got two home runs, including a grand slam, to score six runs in the first inning. The Tourists crept back, thanks to Fisher home runs in the fourth and seventh innings and an untimely throwing error in the eighth inning that tied the game at 12-12. That set the stage for Fisher’s decisive three-run homer over the wall in right-centerfield.

Combined, the two teams racked up 27 runs, 28 hits, seven home runs and two grand slams on the night, according to the recap memo.

Through Wednesday night, the Tourists were 6-5 on the season, in second place in the South Atlantic League South Division, one game behind Bowling Green.
